Note 02 · Structure
Let headings describe the content
Headings provide a route through a page before every paragraph is read.
Name the section's subject
A heading such as Delivery times tells a reader more than General information. It should identify the question answered below it. Read the headings on their own and ask whether the page's outline is still understandable.
Keep levels meaningful
Use a main title for the page and subordinate headings for its sections. A smaller heading belongs inside a larger subject. Changing a heading level only to change its size makes that relationship harder for assistive tools to explain.
Check the first sentence
The paragraph after a heading should begin developing its promise. If it starts a different topic, revise the heading or move the paragraph. Clear structure emerges when the labels and the content point in the same direction.
